Also I think Rani and abishek acted very well,I was invested in them and I liked the way every character was written EXCEPT shahrukhs,I also feel like maybe they should’ve casted someone else because in some scenes he came across annoying and borderline villain type instead of an actual human being. I still love this movie but it bugs the fuck out of me how much better it could’ve been. Honestly this movie could’ve been great if karan had committed to doing a complex movie,he got scared clearly and made it all mushy and soft in some areas and put in some ridiculous comedic scenes which just didn’t land. I got the vibe that the whole I can’t have kids was probably why Rishi and Maya’s marriage also didn’t work out. Rishi had a right to be mad(his love languages weren’t being met), but to bring up the fact she can’t have kids is low. I was rooting for Rishi until he brought up the fact Maya cant give him a kid in a fight. Also they both treated their spouses like shit(their spouses aren’t saints either). Don’t get me started on how he treated his son.Īlso DEV AND MAYA WERE ALSO TOXIC AF instead they try to make each other beyond jealous and let it get too far then decided to leave their spouses. For me I thought his ego was too big and he was too full of himself.

I hated Dev’s character with a passion and I honestly think he shouldn’t have ended up with anyone. Rhea’s was words of affirmation, Dev never gave Rhea that either. Maya and Dev were more willing to bend over backwards for each other when they were supposedly trying to “save their marriages” and were more respondent to Dev’s love language but in reality you don’t see Dev reciprocating Maya’s love language(which btw you do see Rishi try in the movie). Dev’s and Rishi’s are both physical touch. What bugged me was Maya’s primary love language is acts of service. They did a great job showing the spark being gone in a marriage and trying to work towards the marriage. They even showed the different couple types in relationships especially when each of them have different love languages which made them almost incompatible. The realistic part of the film was the marriage ups and downs shown in the movie. I’ll give you my perspective: movie for me started out great and the whole Dev Maya trying to relate to each other and become friends to help each other save their marriage.
